The 15th edition of CinEast attracted over 9850 participants, with over 6800 spectators in cinemas, 1200 online views and more than 1800 people attending our special events. Big thanks to all and see you in 2023!

CinEast4Ukraine charity
Thanks to your generosity we managed to collect 16500 EUR through our CinEast4Ukraine charity project. We sent an equipped ambulance and some sleeping bags to help those in need in Ukraine. More info here.

CinEast 2022 winners
The Grand Prix of CinEast 2022 goes to the film Gentleby L.Csuja & A.E.Nemes (repeated on Sun at Cinematheque)! Other prizes: 107 Mothersby P.Kerekes (Special Jury Prize), How Is Katia? by C.Tynkevych (Critics' Prize), Sonataby B.Blaschke (Audience Award). Congratulations!
Online Cinema until 6 Nov.
CinEast Online Cinema with many films from the festival programme is available until 6 November. Get a special discounted Online Pass (5 screenings) and support our charity project (5 EUR from each pass goes to CinEast4Ukraine).
Charity finale screening
Special screening of Luxembourg, Luxembourg in the presence of the director Antonio Lukich, followed by the finale of the CinEast4Ukraine charity project with the possibility to purchase photos from our exhibitions. Sun 23/10, 18.30 at Neimënster.
Awards Ceremony 2022
The Awards Ceremony of CinEast 2022 will take place at Kinepolis Kirchberg on Sat. 22/10 at 7pm. The ceremony will be followed by the screening of The Happiest Man In The World by the president of the International Jury Teona Strugar Mitevska.
Joryj Kłoc live
Join us at the CinEast Ukrainian Evening with the folk-rock band Joryj Kłoc.Ukrainian short films programme “The One Minutes Jr. Ukraine“, Ukrainian food and a DJ set are also on the menu of this special event at Rotondes (20/10).
Short film marathons
Four short film marathons presenting some of the most remarkable short films from CEE countries (fiction, documentary and animated) are on the programme, starting with fiction shorts (South) at Neimënster on Tue 11/10.
DZ'OB in concert
The Ukrainian avantgarde ensemble DZ'OB will perform live at Neimënster on Wed. 19/10 at 8 pm. Think of Aphex Twin meeting Shostakovich.
Pamfir - premiere
We are proud to host the national premiere of Pamfir by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk. The film was co-produced by Adolf El Assal from Wady Films (Luxembourg) and also Klaudia Śmieja from Madants (Poland) - both will attend the screening on Tue 18/10 (Ciné Utopia 7 pm).
Two well-known actors attending the festival on Sunday 16/10: Zbigniew Zamachowski talking about his rich career after Three Colours: White (Cinémathèque), and Hana Vagnerová sharing secrets about Borders of Love (Neimënster).
Goran Bregović at CinEast
CinEast & Rockhal present the legendary musician Goran Bregović with his Wedding & Funeral Band live at the Rockhal in Esch sur Alzette on 17 October 2022. Get your tickets here!
Debate on sustainability
After the film The Visitors, the director Veronika Lišková and the head of Greenpeace Luxembourg Raymond Aendekerk will discuss environmental and social sustainability and building communities. Cinémathèque on Fri 14/10 at 20.30.
Communities exhibition
The vernissage of the "Communities" photo exhibition takes place on Thu 6/10 at the Cloitre in Neimënster. In the presence of the curator Martyna Szymańska, free entrance. The exhibition will be freely accessible until 23 October.
Debate about Ukraine
The debate Ukraine at a Crossroadstackling the context of the current situation in Ukraine with directors Christina Tynkevych and Denys Husakov will follow the Ukrainian Short Films Programme on Wed 12/10 at 8pm at Neimënster.
Women's Event
The traditional event about women for (not only) women this year with Nightsiren and debate tackling gender equality, sexual empowerment and misogynistic stereotypes. Sun 9/10 at 8pm Neimënster, with scriptwriter Barbora Námerová and Jacques Molitor.
Films in competition
We are proud to present the Official Competition selection.Discover the 7 films in competition of CinEast 2022 here. We are also happy that we have achieved a perfect gender balance as regards the film directors of the competition films.

CinEast4Ukraine
Thanks to your generosity our special charity screening of "The Earth Is Blue As An Orange" by Iryna Tsylik on 31/03/2022 and the related action raised 5432,52 EUR that we donated to LUkraine asbl. See photos. We will continue to support Ukraine throughout 2022.

Charity project results
We are happy to announce that in the framework of the 2021 Charity Project we managed to collect 2239,06 EUR for the Lindenfeld Association in Romania. Thank you for your generosity and stay tuned for more details.
